
The Federal Government has heightened efforts to operationalise the National Research study and Innovation Advancement Fund (NRIDF) following its recent approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), with key officials fulfilling to advance the legal framework for its application.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, divulged that he held a strategic meeting with the Unique Advisor to the President on Policy and Coordination, Mrs. Hadiza Bala Usman, and the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN), to go over the next phase of the initiative.
According to Alausa, the meeting concentrated on preparing the Executive Expense that will develop the legal and governance framework for the Fund, leading the way for its efficient operation as a sustainable national platform for funding research study, innovation and the commercialisation of concepts.
Alausa described the initiative as a landmark step in Nigeria’s mission for scholastic, scientific and technological improvement.
“Nigeria stands at a defining moment in its journey towards scholastic, scientific and technological quality. The NRIDF will strengthen research organizations, speed up homegrown innovation, deepen cooperation in between academic community and industry, and support the development of solutions that drive financial development, develop high-value tasks and enhance the lives of Nigerians. It is a crucial step in changing Nigeria from a resource-based economy into a knowledge-based economy, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of constructing a $1 trillion economy,” he said.
The minister stated the Fund would work as a long-term financial investment in the nation’s future by empowering scientists, innovators and business owners to develop options to nationwide obstacles and open brand-new economic chances.
“This Fund is far higher than any one organization or person. It is a financial investment in Nigeria’s future and a long lasting legacy that will empower generations of scientists, innovators and business owners to fix our nation’s greatest obstacles, unlock new chances and position Nigeria as an international leader in research study and development,” Alausa added.
