ILORIN, KWARA STATE– The University of Ilorin(UNILORIN )has actually participated in a tactical collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) to advance ecological sustainability and nature preservation.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on Monday at the university campus, marks a considerable step in incorporating practical conservation efforts into the Nigerian tertiary education landscape.
According to a statement launched on Tuesday by the NCF’s Head of Communications and Corporate Branding, Olusomi Oduguwa, the partnership aims to transform the school into a center for ecological research and climate action.

The centrepiece of the agreement is the establishment of a five-hectare preservation park within the UNILORIN school.
This devoted green area is planned to serve as a practical learning centre for trainees, especially those in forest resources management and ecological sciences.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole stressed that the partnership is a cornerstone of the institution’s dedication to sustainable advancement.
He kept in mind that the effort extends beyond physical conservation to include a detailed carbon evaluation of the university’s existing forests, a crucial approach understanding the organization’s environmental footprint and its role in carbon sequestration.
