CALABAR, CROSS RIVER– The Abraham Ordia Arena was a scene of scholastic pageantry on Friday, April 10, 2026, as the University of Calabar (UNICAL) held its 38th Convocation Event.
The event, which marked the shift of countless trainees into the global expert area, brought together a prominent assembly of conventional rulers, scholastic heavyweights, and policymakers.
The event featured a colourful academic procession of university officials and graduands, signalling the formal beginning of the last rite of passage for the 2025/2026 finishing friend.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Offiong Effanga Offiong, expressed tremendous pride in the resilience revealed by the trainees throughout their academic journey.
He declared the administration’s commitment to equipping students with the capability required to contend on a worldwide stage.
“Be strong in pursuing your dreams,” Prof. Offiong motivated, prompting the graduates to be job creators who utilize their understanding to construct opportunities for others.
Spotlight on Quality: The 500,000 Reward
The climax of the ceremony was the presentation of awards for scholastic difference. Offiong Bassey Edet took the spotlight as the General Best Finishing Student.
In acknowledgment of his extraordinary scholastic performance, Edet was honoured with a cash award of 500,000. The statement was met with a standing ovation, acting as a powerful reward for the continuing students in participation.
