
Journalism student Sophia Buschhorn won in the category “Finest Contribution under 4 Minutes” with a piece on the subject of femicide. Under the title “When ladies are killed because they are ladies”, she reported on a femicide that shook Dortmund, showing the effect such criminal offenses have on a city and its individuals. In its statement, the jury emphasized that Buschhorn was successful in informing the story sensitively and with journalistic accuracy: “With outstanding original noise bites and a climatic soundscape, the author manages to be extremely near to the people without appearing voyeuristic. The outcome is radio that moves, enlightens, and needs obligation– in your area rooted, yet of global importance.”
For his colleague conversation about the so-called “Rocktutorium”, journalism student Lennart Thomas received the prize in the University classification. The jury praised that he conveyed the atmosphere of the course, in which trainees make music together in just a few weeks, in a relaxed, positive, and captivating method. He intentionally utilized original sound bites to inspire listeners to the subject in a short time.
