The goal of “6GEM+”is not just to improve the efficiency and dependability of communication systems however likewise to open up brand-new application possibilities in different sectors through innovative technologies and close cooperation with market. The goal is to go beyond the limitations of the current mobile communications basic and sound in a brand-new age of networked communication.
Further Development of the Existing Mobile Communications Standard
The current 5G mobile interactions standard requirements to be advanced to improve adoption of mobile innovations, AI computing and extended reality in commercial applications. Here, incorporated AI computing and real-time transmission, extreme latency, and high reliability are particularly important requirements, which can not be totally met 5G systems. 6GEM+ Transfer Hub aims to actively deal with these challenges.
Also included on the Dortmund side is the Fraunhofer Institute for Product Circulation and Logistics IML. In addition, Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), RWTH Aachen University (coordinator) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Innovation IPT are taking part in the 6G transfer hub. The task will receive funding of as much as EUR25 million for approximately four years from 2026 onward from the “6G Transfer Hubs” funding program of the Federal Ministry of Research, Innovation and Space (BMFTR).
Partnership with Industry Partners
To make the project’s vision a truth, this research study will concentrate on innovative 6G innovations that will be tested in laboratory environments and massive test fields. Additional associated partners from market, who will act as usage case coaches, will assist the project partners by providing important insights from real-world applications. They are important for making sure that the innovations developed are practice-based and fulfill the specific requirements of market. With a clear focus on the efficiency, security and strength of mobile interaction systems, “6GEM+” will offer an unique platform that joins research with useful recognition.
