7 students of State High School, Ibereko, Badagry, have been arraigned before a skilled court for supposedly vandalising and taking federal government property within their school facilities.
The trainees were detained by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Badagry Divisional Headquarters of the Lagos State Command, over claims that they vandalised electrical cable televisions and aluminium products belonging to the school before selling the products to a scrap dealer.
Throughout the court proceedings, 5 of the accuseds, whose identities were kept due to the fact that they are minors, were given bail on the condition that their birth parents stand as sureties and offer legitimate means of identification along with recent passport pictures.
The court further ruled that any of the juveniles whose parents stop working to meet the bail conditions would be remanded at the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Oregun till the requirements are fulfilled.
The 2 adult defendants, recognized as Saniola Nofiu, 19, and Kasiru Usman, 19, were denied bail and remanded at the Badagry Custodial Centre pending the decision of the case.
The matter was adjourned till August 6 and 7, 2026, for extension of hearing.
The NSCDC Lagos State Command declared its dedication to safeguarding Important National Assets and Infrastructure, cautioning that anybody discovered vandalising federal government residential or commercial property would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command also attracted moms and dads, guardians, school authorities and neighborhood leaders to strengthen the supervision of youths and work together with security companies to safeguard public facilities throughout communities.
