Teaching activities in public primary and secondary schools across Oyo State were interrupted on Monday as members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) began an indefinite commercial action in reaction to the current abduction of instructors and students in parts of the state.
The strike, stated by the Oyo State chapter of the union, followed the attack on three schools in Oriire City government Location, where gunmen supposedly kidnapped schoolchildren and education workers, while 2 individuals lost their lives.
The afflicted organizations consist of Community Grade school and L.A. Main School in Ahoro-Esinle, along with Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, near Ogbomoso, which came under attack on May 15.
A tracking workout across public schools in Ibadan revealed extensive compliance with the union’s regulation, with class mostly deserted and normal scholastic activities suspended.
