Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has participated in a partnership with Prince Interior Vocational Institute to enhance entrepreneurship and practical skills advancement among trainees through a specialised training programme in furniture production.

The cooperation, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is anticipated to produce at least 500 proficient furniture artisans within the very first 2 years of the effort.

Speaking during the signing ceremony held at the Council Chamber of the university on March 13, 2026, the Vice-Chancellor, Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, applauded the institute for initiating the cooperation and considering the university a trustworthy partner for the entrepreneurial and occupation job.

She also expressed gratitude to members of the university management for their support in promoting scholastic quality, keeping in mind that the collaboration lines up with the entrepreneurial advancement output requirements of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

“The collaboration is among the criteria for TETFund standards in entrepreneurial development output, and it will be advantageous to the whole NSUK neighborhood,” she said.

In her remarks, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, revealed pleasure over the partnership, noting that students would gain from training in about 50 different skills readily available at the centre.

She thanked the institute for the partnership and expressed optimism that the partnership would be productive and useful to both parties.

On the other hand, the management of the institute, led by its Ceo, Emeka Owgueke, commended the leadership of the university for acknowledging the significance of professional education and business development in resolving youth unemployment and constructing a resistant local economy.

According to the institute, the partnership shows a shared dedication to developing opportunities for young Nigerians to obtain marketable skills and establish sustainable companies within the furniture and interior decoration market.

Participants in the program will be exposed to the entire furniture production worth chain, including raw material sourcing, item manufacturing, finishing, branding, marketing, and circulation.

As part of the collaboration, plans are likewise underway to develop a medium-scale furnishings workshop within the university, equipped with vital devices to support practical training while assisting the organization reduce the expense of furnishings procurement.

Under the arrangement, students will receive hands-on training in furnishings making, interior item design, and service development, equipping them with the useful skills required to establish and manage successful enterprises after graduation.
