
The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has declared its commitment to strengthening security partnership with the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) to safeguard lives and facilities within the organization.
The Organizer of the Safe School Action Coordination Centre of the NSCDC in Ondo State, Deputy Superintendent of Corps, Folashade Olakanse, disclosed this during a courtesy see to the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Adenike Oladiji, on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Olakanse discussed that the collaboration aligns with the Federal Government’s Safe School Action Initiative targeted at safeguarding schools from security threats and improving intelligence gathering around educational institutions.
She noted that the centre was established to make sure the safety of schools at all levels, avoid attacks and coordinate prompt reactions to security events through collaboration with neighborhoods and key stakeholders.
The NSCDC official worried the critical function of info sharing in preventing and reacting to security difficulties, urging members of the university neighborhood to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
Olakanse stated the command in Ondo State is devoted to making sure the security of trainees, staff and infrastructure within and around the university environment.
“Information remains essential in avoiding and responding to security scenarios. The Safe School Response Coordination Centre was created to ensure the security of schools at all levels, avoid attacks and enhance intelligence event,” she said.
She even more appealed for continual cooperation in between the university management and the corps to enhance safety measures.
“The NSCDC in Ondo State is dedicated to ensuring the security of the university neighborhood, consisting of trainees, staff and facilities. We appeal for ongoing support and collaboration to keep security within and outside the university,” Olakanse added.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oladiji, welcomed the NSCDC delegation and declared FUTA’s dedication to working closely with security companies to maintain a safe academic environment.
“FUTA has always partnered with security companies since the security and security of members of our neighborhood remain a leading priority. Collective efforts are necessary to enhance security procedures and prevent possible breaches,” she stated.
