The Federal Ministry of Education has formalised a tactical collaboration with Institute of Technical Education Provider (ITEES) to reinforce Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony linking authorities in Abuja and Singapore, with Nigeria represented by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), while ITEES represented Singapore.
According to the Ministry, the collaboration is part of continuous efforts to rearrange technical education in Nigeria as a major driver of economic growth, job development and industrial development.
The collaboration builds on engagements started throughout the 2025 go to of the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, who held discussions with Singapore’s Education Minister, Desmond Lee, and explored campuses of the Institute of Technical Education. Additional discussions were later on accepted Singapore’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lim Sim Seng, causing the formalisation of the contract.
Under the arrangement, ITEES will implement a Train-the-Trainer Program developed to reinforce the pedagogical and evaluation capability of TVET instructors throughout Nigeria. The programme is anticipated to enhance the quality of instruction and enhance the overall shipment of technical education in Nigerian organizations.
The partnership will likewise supply management training in Singapore for principals and heads of departments in Nigerian technical organizations, allowing them to adopt worldwide best practices in skills advancement and institutional management.
In addition, the contract introduces the Worldwide Excellence Model for Skills Training (GEMSET), a framework that will make it possible for Nigerian technical institutions to benchmark their efficiency versus international requirements.
The Federal Ministry of Education mentioned that the collaboration represents a substantial action towards modernising Nigeria’s employment education system and equipping youths with industry-relevant abilities needed in a quickly evolving international economy.
“The effort supports the Federal Government’s dedication to rearrange technical education as a crucial driver of economic development, task development and industrial development,” the ministry said in a statement issued by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.
