The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Other Halves Association a(NAOWA), Dr. Safiyya Hassan Shaibu, has inaugurated newly finished instructional and welfare jobs at Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks and Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja, reaffirming the association’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of Nigerian Army families.

The projects, inaugurated on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, include a crèche, nursery school, market stalls, boundary fence, children’s play ground and remodelled restroom centers.

Speaking throughout the inauguration, Dr. Shaibu explained the jobs as tactical financial investments focused on boosting the well-being, education and well-being of military households. She said the efforts reflect NAOWA’s vision of building an unified and innovative organisation that empowers military households through self-reliance and sustainable incomes.

According to her, the recently developed crèche and nursery school will provide a safe and favorable environment for the care and early education of kids, keeping in mind that quality education starts with a strong structure in the formative years.

She included that the marketplace stalls would promote entrepreneurship within the barracks community, while the remodelled washrooms, boundary fence and play area would enhance sanitation, security and leisure opportunities for staff and students of Army Day Secondary School.

Dr. Shaibu applauded the Planner of the NAOWA Army Head Office Garrison Chapter, Mrs. Dorathy Maxwell Dangana, and members of the chapter for successfully executing the jobs. She also revealed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his continued support for the well-being of Nigerian Army workers and their families, in addition to the Leader, Army Head Office Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, for supporting the chapter’s efforts.

She advised recipients to guarantee proper upkeep of the centers and motivated other NAOWA chapters across the country to start similar people-centred projects for military households and host communities.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Dangana described the commissioning as a significant milestone in the association’s efforts to enhance the well-being of Nigerian Army families. She disclosed that the recently constructed school, created to accommodate about 70 pupils, consists of a crèche, playgroup, pre-nursery and nursery sections, an ill bay, shop, proposed inverter space and a completely equipped children’s play area.

She stated the extra projects at Army Day Secondary School, Mogadishu Cantonment, would enhance safety, sanitation, entrepreneurship and the overall learning environment. She thanked the Chief of Army Personnel for his support to NAOWA and praised the leadership of the association’s president. She also acknowledged the contributions of the Leader, Army Headquarters Garrison, past planners of the chapter, the executive committee, contractors and other stakeholders.

Providing an overview of the projects, the Project Manager, Mr. Ayodele Salako, stated building and construction commenced on February 20, 2026, and was completed on schedule and within budget. He noted that the center comprises four classrooms, a crèche, playgroup, preschool and nursery areas, an ill bay and an interactive outdoor playground, adding that all centers had been checked and satisfied the required security and academic requirements.

In her vote of thanks, the Deputy Organizer of the NAOWA Army Headquarters Garrison Chapter, Mrs. Adama Gambo, commended the NAOWA President for her leadership and commitment to promoting education, women empowerment and neighborhood advancement among military households.

The event included the unveiling of the tasks, a tour of the centers, ribbon-cutting event, presentation of keepsakes and group photographs.
