The Lagos State University(LASU), in collaboration with the National Universities Commission (NUC), has actually arranged a three-day TETFund-funded capacity-building program to equip its academic staff with ingenious methods to mentor entrepreneurship.
The training, held from July 27 to 29 at the Senate Chamber of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Structure, Main School, Ojo, focused on the effectuation technique to entrepreneurship education, bringing together members of the university’s academic community to boost teaching and learning.
Speaking at the opening event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, explained the programme as a prompt intervention aimed at reinforcing entrepreneurship education in Nigerian universities.
He said entrepreneurship extends beyond business creation, keeping in mind that the effectuation technique gears up speakers with useful techniques to help students think artistically, resolve issues, make informed decisions under uncertainty and recognize chances.
Afisi expressed self-confidence that the training would improve teaching approaches and better prepare graduates to produce worth, generate work and contribute meaningfully to nationwide development.
The program featured sessions assisted in by Dr. Abubakar A. Adamu of the University of Maiduguri and Dr. Bola Olufunke Jenyo of the Federal University of Health Sciences, who exposed individuals to the concepts of effectuation, including the Bird-in-Hand, Affordable Loss, Lemonade, Patchwork Quilt and Pilot-in-the-Plane principles.
Participants also participated in practical workouts, case research studies, tests and interactive conversations created to deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship teaching and encourage the application of the ideas in the classroom.
At the close of the program, Dr. Adamu urged individuals to accept the entrepreneurial principles in both their mentor and professional lives, worrying that entrepreneurship education should remain useful and action-oriented.
Representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Dr. Samuel Asesanya applauded individuals for their commitment throughout the training and expressed optimism that the program would further enhance entrepreneurship education at LASU.
Speaking on behalf of the individuals, Teacher Uche Ebele of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) valued TETFund, the National Universities Commission and LASU for organising the training, saying the understanding obtained would boost entrepreneurship teaching and practice throughout the organization.
