ILORIN, KWARA STATE— The Kwara State Government has introduced an extensive two-day training program for Technical Company (TSPs) as part of a massive facilities drive under the Teenager Girls Effort for Knowing and Empowerment (AGILE) task.
The effort aims to manage the rehab of 898 public junior and senior secondary schools across the state, together with the building and construction of new facilities in 26 flagship schools.
Throughout the flag-off ceremony in Ilorin on Friday, March 6, 2026, the Commissioner for Education and Human Being Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, stressed that the project is a cornerstone of Guv AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to uplifting susceptible groups and adolescent ladies.

While the physical remodelling of almost 900 schools is a main pillar, the AGILE job, supported by the World Bank, is a multi-dimensional intervention.
Dr Olohungbebe noted that the task is designed to offer a “lifeline” to the economic and academic potential customers of women through several essential sub-programs.
The Job Organizer for Kwara AGILE, Mr Adeshina Salami, clarified the distinct function of the Technical Company.
Unlike traditional contractors, these TSPs, including designers, civil engineers, and quantity property surveyors, are tasked with supporting School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to ensure quality assurance and compliance with global requirements.
“These specialists are to make sure quality shipment and compliance with ecological and social standards,” Salami explained.
He included that the School Enhancement Grants (SIG) are customized specifically to the size and needs of each institution.
An important aspect of the training concentrates on the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP). Mrs Nkechi Ikemefuna, an Environmental Safeguard Officer from the National Job Collaborating Unit in Abuja, stressed that the rehabilitation procedure should be handled to prevent “security” neighborhood issues.
The AGILE project remains a five-year strategic partnership meant to bridge the gender space in secondary education throughout Nigeria.
By equipping schools with contemporary facilities and digital tools, Kwara State aims to create a safe, favorable, and technically appropriate environment for the next generation of female leaders.
