BAUCHI, BAUCHI STATE– Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has made a clarion call to the latest graduates of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZAU), advising them to shift from “task candidates” to “creators of chances.”

Speaking on Saturday, March 28, 2026, throughout the organization’s combined 8th, 9th, and 10th convocation event, the Governor stressed that in a highly competitive global economy, academic certificates serve just as platforms for development, not guaranteed tickets to success.

The ceremony saw the graduation of 11,813 trainees across different disciplines, marking a substantial turning point for the state-owned institution.

A Vision for Job Development

Governor Mohammed entrusted the graduands to look beyond the conventional pursuit of civil service or corporate employment.

He kept in mind that the true worth of their education depends on their capability to determine social challenges and engineer sustainable solutions.

“Do not restrict yourselves to looking for work. Become developers of chances, innovators, and service providers,” the Governor stated.

He reminded the audience that while the university has offered the foundational knowledge, the world exterior is “unforgiving” and needs a blend of hard work, persistence, and steadfast stability.

Comprehensive Graduation Data

The 2026 combined convocation included a varied cohort of routine, part-time, and postgraduate trainees.

Data supplied by the university highlights a strong performance in the upper honours classifications, in spite of a noteworthy gender gap in the finishing population.

Undergraduate Honours Breakdown:

  • First Class: 216 graduates (1.83%)

  • Second Class Upper: 3,438 graduates (29.10%)

  • 2nd Class Lower: 5,563 graduates (47.09%)

  • Third Class/Pass: 2,596 graduates (21.98%)

Gender Circulation:

  • Male Graduates: 8,387 (71%)

  • Female Graduates: 3,426 (29%)

Reinforcing Research Study and Postgraduate Studies

At the postgraduate level, the university provided degrees on 443 candidates, signalling a boost in sophisticated research capability within the state. This associate consisted of 25 PhD holders and 145 Academic Master’s degree earners.

The Vice-Chancellor, Teacher Fatima Tahir, advised the postgraduate and undergraduate scholars alike to promote the values of discipline and service.
