The Federal Government has actually inaugurated Nigeria’s first Manufacturing Innovation University Development Pod (Manu-Tech UniPod) at the Michael Okpara University of Farming, Umudike in Abia State, marking a major step towards strengthening innovation, production, entrepreneurship, and commercial development in the country.

The pioneering project is a collaborative effort involving the Federal Government, the United Nations Development Programme, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, and the Abia State Federal Government.

Representing Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration, the Minister of Education, Maruf Olatunji Alausa, said the facility of the Manu-Tech UniPod highlights the Federal Government’s dedication to changing Nigerian universities into centres of development, entrepreneurship, research commercialisation, and sustainable task creation.

According to the minister, universities must develop beyond their conventional functions of teaching and research study to become drivers for enterprise development, innovation transfer, and commercial competitiveness. He kept in mind that the initiative lines up with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to build a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030 through innovation-driven growth and financial diversification.
