
The Federal government has released 5 flagship World Bank-backed programs focused on speeding up human capital development, reducing poverty, reinforcing health care, enhancing governance and broadening financial chances throughout Nigeria.
The programmes were unveiled on Friday at the State Home Conference Centre in Abuja as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Restored Hope Program.
Represented by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, President Tinubu said the efforts reflect the administration’s commitment to translating economic reforms into concrete benefits for Nigerians through tactical financial investments in education, health care, social security and institutional development.
The President reaffirmed that education remains central to the Restored Hope Program, stressing that no nation can rise above the quality of its education.
> “No country can rise above the quality of its education. Real prosperity indicates no Nigerian will be left,” he said.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described education as Nigeria’s biggest financial investment, noting that the Human Capital Opportunities for Success and Equity for Quality Basic Education for All (HOPE-EDU) Program represents a transformative financial investment of about $552.18 million, jointly funded by the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).
According to Alausa, the program will enhance foundational literacy and numeracy, enhance teaching quality, expand access to quality standard education and boost education management systems across the country.
He revealed that the initiative will directly benefit almost 30 million kids, support the expert advancement of 500,000 public primary school teachers, and improve mentor and learning in more than 65,000 public main schools and their School-Based Management Committees throughout the nation.
The minister discussed that the programme, which covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, will run on a results-based financing model that rewards measurable enhancements in finding out outcomes. He included that it is created to decrease finding out hardship, enhance instructor efficiency, enhance responsibility through robust education information systems and promote evidence-based preparation and efficient resource allocation.

The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, explained the NG-CARES, SOLID and HOPE programs as complementary interventions developed to tackle hardship, strengthen strength and accelerate human capital development.
Bagudu worried that effective coordination amongst all levels of federal government, openness and sensible management of resources would be essential to making sure that the programs benefit bad and vulnerable Nigerians.
Likewise speaking, World Bank Nation Director, Mathew Verghis, applauded the Federal government’s commitment to human capital development, saying the programmes were developed to reinforce social security, expand economic opportunities, improve education and healthcare results, and assistance susceptible neighborhoods.
