MAIDUGURI, BORNO STATE— The Federal government has officially applauded the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, for his substantial strides in reinforcing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The commendation follows the effective graduation of roughly 3,000 students from 9 Vocational Business Institutes and Centres across the state.

In a statement released on Sunday, March 8, 2026, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the Borno design as a standard for youth empowerment and an essential contribution to nationwide economic stability.

The graduation ceremony included the distribution of important starter packs and a 100,000 entrepreneurship grant to each of the 3,000 graduates.

These resources are meant to assist in an instant shift from training to active involvement in the local economy, reducing the barriers to starting small companies.

Minister Alausa kept in mind that this effort directly aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Restored Hope Agenda,” which prioritises useful skills over theoretical certificates to fix the nation’s joblessness difficulties.

The Federal Ministry of Education highlighted that the Borno vocational program embraces a strenuous curriculum structure including 80% useful hands-on experience and 20% theoretical instruction. This ratio is designed to guarantee that graduates possess the technical mastery required by modern-day industries.

Currently, over 180,000 youths are undergoing similar training in different centres throughout Nigeria under the federal government’s broadened abilities development structure.

To even more bridge the gap between knowledgeable labour and companies, the Minister revealed that a National TVET Task Portal is presently under advancement.

The platform will serve as a digital market to link qualified artisans with industry opportunities and supply them with access to budget-friendly loans to scale their organizations.

The Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, stressed that the ministry stays dedicated to expanding these programs.

The objective is to change Nigeria into a hub for skilled labour, where youths are equipped to drive industrial growth and self-reliance.
