Students representing Education District IV have emerged top performers at the current Food and Nutrition Competitors arranged by the Home Economics Teachers Association of Nigeria (HETAN), showcasing remarkable cooking and dietary proficiency.

The competitors, which combined individuals from the six Lagos State Education Districts, was created to promote healthy eating practices, creativity, and useful abilities among trainees. It likewise acted as a platform for learners to demonstrate proficiencies in food preparation, hygiene, nutrition, and presentation while promoting team effort and healthy rivalry.

At the end of the acutely contested occasion, a duo from Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary school, Surulere, representing Education District IV, clinched first position. The students, Odeyinka AbdulSalam and Mbam Chimdalu Doris, stuck out for their outstanding discussion, imagination, and in-depth knowledge of nutrition.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the district head office, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, commended the trainees for their outstanding efficiency and for making the district proud.

“This achievement is a testimony to the quality of teaching and the dedication of our students. Home Economics stays crucial in equipping young people with necessary life abilities,” he said.

The winning students provided their award to the district management and took part in an image session with the Permanent Secretary, marking a happy minute for both their school and Education District IV.

The HETAN competition was widely considered as a success, further enhancing nutrition education and encouraging active participation in Home Economics throughout Lagos State schools.
