
The University of Abuja has actually magnified efforts to enhance sickle cell care in Nigeria through a high-level training programme focused on advancing treatment methods and reinforcing research study partnership.
The institution’s Centre of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease Research and Training recently hosted a three-day ACCELERATE Principal Detectives (PIs) training conference from March 23 to 25, 2026. The hybrid occasion combined individuals both physically and practically for intensive refresher sessions and tactical discussions.
The training fixated enhancing the efficient use of Hydroxyurea, a commonly acknowledged treatment for handling Sickle Cell Disease, with the objective of improving patient results throughout the nation.
Speaking at the event, the Director of CESRTA, Obiageli Nnodu, commended the level of partnership among local and global stakeholders.

Nnodu also acknowledged the contributions of Emmanuel Peprah of New York University and the iCTS clinical trials group for their continued assistance.
The ACCELERATE training forms part of broader efforts by CESRTA and its partners to scale up research study, improve treatment procedures, and broaden access to life-saving treatments for individuals coping with sickle cell disease.
