The Federal Government has suspended the proposed evaluation of registration charges for the 2027 West African Senior Citizen School Certificate Evaluation (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior Citizen School Certificate Assessment (SSCE), pending larger assessments with stakeholders.

The choice was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Federal Ministry of Education through its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

According to the ministry, the letter conveying the proposed fee change, dated June 18, 2026, has actually been withdrawn to permit an extensive evaluation and wider assessments before a final decision is taken.

The ministry stated the suspension followed issues and positive feedback from Nigerians over the organized boost, keeping in mind that the federal government stayed committed to making sure access to quality education.

Reassuring Nigerians, the ministry specified that the well-being of students, equitable access to quality education and accountable policymaking stay central to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the education sector.

The ministry also appreciated the understanding and continued assistance of stakeholders, promising to keep the general public notified throughout the consultation procedure.
