Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has ensured locals that the safety of students and personnel remains a top concern following the short-term relocation of students from Our Lady of Apostles Girls Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode, due to a methane gas contamination incident.
Speaking throughout an evaluation visit to the school, Abiodun stated “preliminary examinations verified the existence of methane gas within the area, demanding the relocation as a preventive procedure to protect lives and home.”
The guv described that the state government is collaborating with appropriate agencies and environmental specialists to identify the source of the gas emissions and implement procedures to prevent a reoccurrence.
He noted that early findings recommend the occurrence is a natural event instead of a result of any deliberate human activity.
Abiodun assured moms and dads, guardians, and citizens that students would just return to the school after the environment has been thoroughly evaluated and accredited safe for academic activities.
The state government, he included, remains committed to guaranteeing the well-being of all impacted students and staff while examinations continue.
