This workshop, run by researchers from the Chair of Digital Improvement at the Department of Business and Economics, offers participants a hands-on chance to experience innovative innovations: With iPad and flowAR app, they can create, develop and plant a garden of the future with the aid of augmented truth.
The “Smart Home” part of the exhibition highlights the field of stress in between comfort and control, with a focus on the main question of information sovereignty: How can we make use of the benefits of a networked home without giving up control of our individual data?
Department of Computer Science: Laboratory Trip Featuring TU Dortmund University’s Computer Science
Technology enthusiasts can experience the future of self-governing systems at TU Dortmund University throughout a lab tour through the Department of Computer Technology. Self-governing vehicles, virtual humans, and smart devices: today’s computer technology is stepping beyond the screen and into the physical world.
The event begins with an initial lecture by Prof. Mario Botsch on the subject: Realistic Virtual Human Models: Creation, Simulation, and Applications. The lecture demonstrates how reasonable virtual people can be developed through 3D scanning, how these virtual models can be animated and simulated, and provides fascinating applications from existing tasks.
Lamarr Institute: Social Obligation, Sustainability and Development in the Age of Expert System
How can we utilize AI in concrete applications to overcome existing obstacles in the Ruhr region? What opportunities does it use for sustainable development, social justice and innovation– and where do the threats lie? To explore these and other questions, the Young AI Leaders Neighborhood Dortmund and the Lamarr Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Expert system invite visitors to sign up with a practice-oriented workshop. The workshop is intended for all those who wish to discover more about the social impact and accountable use of AI or about Dortmund’s growing AI landscape. No prior knowledge is needed.
The program organized by the Department of Computer technology will occur parallel to the workshop and in the very same building. All individuals will have the opportunity to get additional insights into the topic after the workshop.
Graduate School of Logistics: Fostering Data Culture
In this interactive workshop, individuals will get to grips with the subject of data culture and discover how they can foster a sustainable, data-oriented culture in their own companies. In group work and discussions, participants will together determine which qualities define their existing information culture and which ones strengthen it in their own organization. The goal is to raise awareness toward the significance of a strong data culture as well as for the individuals to reflect on their own beginning position and recognize concrete, future-proof measures suitable for additional development. The Graduate School of Logistics at TU Dortmund University is responsible for arranging the workshop.
CET: AI and Data in SMEs
A lecture provided by personnel from the Center for Entrepreneurship and Transfer (CET) will check out the reasons why little and medium-sized business (SMEs) should deal with data and why information- or AI-based projects nevertheless typically fail. Dr. Eugen Krebs, Dr. Andreas Becker and Sebastian Ostapiuk will present concrete examples and best practices tailored to the requirements of SMEs.
Journalism: SciCAR Conference Networks Science and Data Journalism
The Institute of Journalism is extending an invite to the SciCAR conference on 5 September, which will combine reporters and researchers to initiate collective projects in the area of computer-assisted reporting (CAR) and foster interdisciplinary exchange. Keynote speeches, panel conversations and workshops will examine, to name a few topics, research study on the energy shift and political patterns, AI tools and information sources. Conference organizers are Netzwerk Recherche (an association that supports journalistic research study and quality journalism), the Institute of Journalism at TU Dortmund University, Wissenschaftspressekonferenz (a journalists’ association) and the Science Media Center Germany. There is an involvement fee.
