The Federal government has actually authorized the recruitment of 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) instructors into the federal public service, ending years of unpredictability for teachers who have served in Federal Unity Colleges and Technical Colleges without long-term consultations.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the approval in Abuja on Thursday, explaining the decision as a major step toward resolving the consistent shortage of teachers in federal secondary schools while identifying the commitment of long-serving PTA teachers.
According to the minister, the affected instructors were confirmed through an across the country screening exercise carried out by an inter-ministerial committee before being recommended for regularisation. They will be absorbed into the federal labor force under the cadres of Education Officers, Assistant Education Officers, and Technical Instructors.
Alausa said President Bola Tinubu approved the recruitment to enhance teaching and learning in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges, keeping in mind that a number of the recipients had served for nearly 25 years without delighting in the advantages of permanent federal government employment.
He guaranteed the instructors that the regularisation process would be transparent, fair, and in line with recognized public service guidelines and due procedure.
