
LAGOS, NIGERIA– The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a critical extension for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior Citizen School Certificate Evaluation (CB-WASSCE) registration.
In a main upgrade shared on Friday, March 6, 2026, the Council moved the final due date to Friday, March 13, 2026, providing a much-needed window for schools yet to finalise their candidates’ registration.
The extension follows reports of technical problems and an eleventh-hour surge in need that had decreased the registration website over the past week.
Despite the shift towards a digital-first design, WAEC has restated its pledge that no trainee– regardless of their geographical place– will be disenfranchised.
During a sensitisation session with the National Assembly Committees on Education in Abuja, the Head of the National Office (HNO), Dr. Amos Dangut, assured lawmakers that robust measures remain in location to support candidates in rural and underserved neighborhoods.
“We are mapping out centres in every city government location to make sure that trainees do not need to take a trip fars away,” Dr. Dangut specified.
