The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has commenced a statewide awareness project aimed at safeguarding students from sexual abuse while promoting individual security, body autonomy and menstrual hygiene among women in public main schools.
According to a statement issued by the board on Sunday, the initiative united instructors, education stakeholders and child protection advocates to inform pupils on acknowledging violent behaviour, safeguarding themselves, reporting cases of abuse and embracing healthy health practices.
Speaking throughout the program, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Hakeem Shittu, represented by board member Adewale Babatunde, declared the board’s commitment to making sure that every child finds out in a safe, safe and inclusive environment.
He emphasised that the Lagos State Government preserves a firm position against sexual abuse, exploitation and all kinds of violence including kids.

Also dealing with the students, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Standard Education, Yewande Jeje, discussed that the campaign represents the 2nd stage of the state’s child security intervention designed to improve the safety and wellness of learners in public schools.
She motivated the girls to be aware of their rights, stay positive and quickly report any form of abuse to relied on adults or the appropriate authorities.
According to her, no kid needs to remain silent when faced with any kind of inappropriate behaviour, worrying the importance of speaking out and looking for assistance whenever they feel hazardous.
Jeje guaranteed participants that the Lagos State Government would continue to implement efforts aimed at offering kids with a safe and helpful knowing environment.

The program likewise included interactive sessions led by child advancement and health experts.
A child counsellor, Dr Yemi Ayemoba, educated the students on body autonomy, individual boundaries and practical methods to avoid sexual assault. She advised the girls to determine inappropriate conduct, decline undesirable advances and immediately look for support from trusted grownups whenever they come across threatening circumstances.
Likewise, health educator Ruth Oladoye sensitised the pupils on personal health and menstrual health, highlighting appropriate menstrual care, cleanliness and healthy practices that contribute to both physical wellbeing and academic self-confidence.
She noted that good hygiene practices play an essential function in assisting women remain healthy, maintain self-esteem and stay focused on their education.
As part of efforts to strengthen the lessons from the campaign, LASUBEB dispersed hygiene sets including important personal care items to all getting involved pupils.
