After gaining expert experience for about 2 years, Tapelo returned to the University of Mpumalanga in 2023 to begin his doctoral research studies in Agriculture.Now, at simply 26 years old, he has effectively made his PhD, marking the culmination of years of dedication, durability, and academic growth.Tapelo’s doctoral research study focused on solving real-world agricultural difficulties affecting local communities.His thesis, entitled “Effectiveness of Preservation Farming in Enhancing Food Security Among Small-Scale Farmers in Mpumalanga, South Africa,”took a look at how conservation agriculture can reinforce food security and improve the resilience of small farming systems. Part of his research was presented internationally at the 12th International Conference on Agriculture kept in 12th International
Conference on Agriculture, giving his work global academic direct exposure and recognition.Reflecting on his accomplishment during the University of Mpumalanga’s 11th Graduation Event, Tapelo expressed appreciation for the journey and everyone who contributed to his success.He described his years at the university as a period filled with knowing, development, challenges, resilience, and transformation.According to him, reaching the turning point of earning a PhD functions as proof that persistence, assistance, and relying on the procedure genuinely matter.He likewise thanked the University of Mpumalanga for creating an environment that supported both his scholastic and individual development.Tapelo also revealed his appreciation to his supervisors, lecturers, colleagues, member of the family, good friends, funders, and supporters who waited him throughout the journey.
