OFEREKPE, EBONYI STATE— The Ebonyi State University of Info and Communication Technology, Oferekpe (UICTO), has formally gone into the record of history with its first enlisting ceremony.
Held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the university’s long-term website in Izzi City government Area, the occasion marked the official induction of 187 pioneer trainees into the specialized organization.
The Visitor to the University and Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Ogbonna Nwifuru, described the ceremony as a “dream come true” and a strategic action to the nation’s uncomfortable joblessness rates.
Unlike traditional scholastic organizations, UICTO has been created as a specialized center for strategic results. Guv Nwifuru stressed that the university’s curriculum is strictly tailored through modular systems planned to produce job creators rather than task candidates.

He explained that the university’s focus is on economic self-reliance, encouraging graduates to “believe outside the box” and provide innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Dealing with the 187 matriculants, Governor Nwifuru reminded them of their distinct status as the foundation of the organization. He noted that their names would eventually be engraved on a plaque at the Senate Building to commemorate their function as the very first friend.

The Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Professor Ernest Ituma Egba, and his management team were credited keep uncompromised academic quality.
Governor Nwifuru urged the management to focus on trainee welfare and impactful research study that addresses regional challenges in the Oferekpe Agbaja community and beyond.
