
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has actually apprehended 27‑year‑old Joseph Nanmwa Philips for supposedly impersonating a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and defrauding moms and dads through forged files and incorrect pledges of international scholarships.
Philips was paraded at the NSCDC Command Head Office on Thursday, where he admitted to forging an NYSC call‑up letter following his apprehension by the Kwali Department of the Corps. The arrest came after problems of forgery, hacking, and impersonation including the National Mathematical Centre.
Investigations exposed that Philips utilized the forged NYSC letter to secure placement at the International Model Science Academy, Kwali, where he taught for nearly a year while signing regular monthly clearance documents in Lugbe, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Additional inquiries revealed that he cloned university e-mail addresses and defrauded 7 moms and dads of around 1.3 million, assuring Cambridge University scholarships and extra lessons for their children.
