DUTSIN-MA, KATSINA STATE— The Senate of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has approved the rustication of 20 trainees following their involvement in numerous acts of assessment malpractice.
The decision was formalised throughout the organization’s 138th Routine Senate Fulfilling, held this week at the Twin Theatre of the primary school.
The disciplinary action, which takes effect from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, underscores the university’s commitment to maintaining scholastic integrity and the sanctity of its degrees.
The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman, stated that the rustication was performed in strict accordance with the university’s recognized policies.
Specifically, the Senate conjured up Section 13.3, Subsection 13.3(c) of the FUDMA policy on evaluation abnormalities and scholastic misconduct to finalize the penalties.
The university’s Director of Info and Protocol, Nasiru M. Abdul, verified that the decision followed a comprehensive review of the report sent by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

According to the university management, the rustication serves a double function: penalizing the offenders and functioning as a deterrent to the broader student body. Prof. Othman emphasized that the institution would not tolerate any effort to “cut corners” or disregard the guidelines governing evaluations.
The Senate’s action is part of a broader effort within Nigerian tertiary institutions to combat the rising wave of academic dishonesty.
By taking decisive action against these violations, FUDMA intends to make sure that its graduates are recognized both locally and worldwide for their understanding and character.
Prof. Othman urged the staying trainees to “brace up and do the needful” by focusing on their studies and adhering to the ethical standards of the institution.
